Drunk

I saw this on Reddit, enjoy.

A Husband comes home drunk, vomits and falls down on the floor. His Wife gets him up and cleans everything.
Next day when he gets up he expects her to be really angry with him. He braces for a fight, but finds a note near the table.
"Honey, your favorite breakfast is ready on the table, I had to leave early to buy groceries. I'll come running back to you, my love. I love you.
Surprised, he asks his son, "What happened last night?"
The Son replies, "When mom got you up to bed and tried removing your boots and shirt. You were dead drunk and you said,
"Hey Lady! Leave Me Alone. I'm Married!!!"

Finals

It is finals week! Crazy, I know, and I haven't had much time to do anything web related since I started back to school.

I am doing good, looking to pass all of my classes.

I upgraded my phone because my Motorola Atrix phone was a major POS, and Motorola stated that it was no longer getting updated. That is BS for a phone that was barely a year old, and still running Gingerbread and completely buggy. So, since that soured me on Android completely, I upgraded to a Nokia Lumia 920 Windows Phone 8, and I couldn't be happier. It just works. Not any deal breaking bugs, it is refined, and it is extremely smooth. Like, butter smooth. It also has an extremely nice camera.

I can't see android giving me this experience anytime soon.

T.A.A

I finally got hold of TAA, and I have a meeting in the next day or so! That is great news! I get to find out if they are going to pay for what I want to go to school for or if I will have to change my major, yay. Surely they will pay for a Computer Science degree; programmers are always needed. Plus, I can always teach something with a BS so that is a double plus.

So far my first semester back has been great. I am enjoying all of my classes and doing well. It is awesome to not have to go into a factory every day. Instead, I get to better myself. It is an awesome feeling, and it makes me wish I would have stayed in school when I had a scholarship. Oh well, I get a second chance and I am not going to blow it.

College Student Again

I am now in my first week of college (again). I first went in 1995 when I graduated high school, but I just quit going. I don't know if it was just being burnt out or being stupid, but I just quit going mid semester. I ended up getting all failing grades in all of my classes except tennis, which doesn't count anymore.

Fast forward to this year. I get to retake the classes I failed (I am not retaking all of them this semester, but I will end up retaking them). I get to learn again, and I get to feel better about myself because I am learning and pursuing the degree that I want. I am going this time for me, not for everyone that thought I should go just because I had a scholarship, This is what I want to do, no, what I need to do. It really makes me happy to be able to make something of myself and do something I enjoy.

My major is computer science, and hopefully I am able to learn all of the math that is involved with that major. I am 35 years old, and they say learning is harder when you get older. So far, college seems easier to me than it did 17 years ago. They hold your hand for a lot of things now, and actually help you if you need it. The professors/teachers don't seem to be bothered by a problem now like they used to be. They want you to succeed. Maybe if they would have been like this the first time around I would have stuck with it.

I have only been for 2 days, but I am completely loving it. I really feel like I belong now, and doing what I need to do to be happy.

More on this later, I will keep everyone updated.

Games, games, and more games

@steam_games is having their big summer sale this week, and to get ready for it, I took advantage of Gamestop's promotion (trade in your games and get an extra 30% if you use the trades towards steam cards). Since I am a Power Pro Rewards member, i got an extra 10% on top of that. So, I traded my Xbox games in for Steam cash, and I have bought twice as many pc games as I had xbox games for the cash. I purchased all the games I traded in for pc (because I love them) and quite a few more I have been looking at.

Now, I am not out of money yet, and the sale is not over. There are a few more games I want to buy but the rule of Steam sales is that unless a game is part of a daily deal or in a publisher pack, do not buy it until the last day of the sale. This rule has gotten me through a lot of Steam sales, and I haven't been burned yet.

Now, off to play Skyrim.

Raid Zero

I reinstalled windows on my Intel ICH9 Raid0, and it is much better. I did have it on only one hard drive but man, load times and windows boot times sucked. I plan on partitioning and putting linux back on, but I want to get my games loaded first because hey, I am a gamer.

Maybe I will just run VirtualBox and put some linux distros in there, which would make it way easier because let's face it, dual booting sux.

On a positive note, because I am now a student, I get Visual Studio Professional for free. I can't wait to install it and try it out.

Chrome and Fonts

So it seems that Google Chrome (and it's open source base Chromium) do not display web fonts correctly. They just use whatever they want to display. I noticed this today while redoing my blog theme.

I can use Konqueror and change the user agent to anything but Chrome and it will work just fine, but when I change it to chrome, the fonts go to default (basic Sans). It seems that it has to do with the browser being reported as chrome instead of it actually being chrome itself, because I noticed that when chrome loads the page the fonts are correct, and then they go to default before the page stops loading.

I have tried changing the fonts in chrome's settings, I have tried uninstalling the fonts and just using the webfonts on the web, and also clearing all cache and cookies. Yeah, nothing works. Looks like it is a bug in chrome. I was just starting to love chrome, and now this. This is a deal breaker.

Oh yeah, the font problem happens on Windows and Linux, so it isn't just my install.

Off to look for a decent browser because I really can't stand Firefox.

Moved.....to blogger?

I have moved my blog back to blogger. Wordpress has frustrated me ever since I started using it, so I moved back with google. I have my email here, and pretty much most of my cloud services here. It makes sense.

Speaking of the cloud, I have been using Google Music Manager. The only thing it is missing is the ability to share to another account. Not multiple accounts, just one more. You know, like husband and wife, like Amazon allows you to do (the only difference really is amazon doesn't offer email so you can use one sign in).

Other than that, I am just trying to catch up from my 17 years of working so that I don't just completely bomb my first semester of college.

Criminal

I love Fiona Apple, but this cover is badass.

Society Decline

I knew that society was generally challenged, but after reading these posts I think they are worse off than that.

People really can be just plain stupid.

Old Freshman

I have received my "60 day letter" from work. This means that I have less than 60 days left to work there (which is good because they are shutting down the factory).

Now you may think this is bad, but it really isn't. I have applied to college, scheduled my COMPASS test, and got everything together to start back to school in August. I will be a 35 year old freshman.

I have declared my major as "Computer Science" because it is what I am interested in and have always wanted to do it. I am a "dislocated worker" and will get help for going to school, so I am going to do what I enjoy. Yes, it will be hard at times, but what isn't that is worth doing.

Hopefully my blog will turn into something positive because it has been nothing but negative because it is my outlet for life. Now, maybe it can be my release and notepad for my schooling. Of course I will still complain about professors and classes.

Just had to get that out there, and hopefully I have more interesting stuff to talk about later.
